Three churches in Khartoum were told this week that their buildings would be bulldozed by today. They remain standing…..for now.
Pray for our Christian family in Sudan, and especially these three congregations in the Hajj Yousef area of Sudan’s capital.
Officials served notice of the planned demolitions on Monday and announced the churches would be destroyed within 72 hours. The churches, which belong to the Baptist and Sudan Church of Christ denominations, are taking legal action to try to prevent the demolitions.
- Pray that God will intervene and save the three churches under threat of demolition in Khartoum.
- Pray that His light will continue to shine in Sudan, despite officials’ attempts to limit religious freedoms severely. Pray for wisdom for pastors – a particular target for persecution.
Our Iranian sister Maryam Naghash-Zargaran has ended her recent hunger strike. However, she remains behind bars and has not yet received further treatment for serious health issues – the cause of her strike. Maryam was allowed out of jail to receive hospital treatment in June, but was returned to her cell in Tehran’s Evin Prison before her treatment was complete. Pray that she will be pardoned and released for good: she’s serving a four-year sentence for ‘acting against national security’.
