INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER (IDOP) FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH November 2007PRAY FOR CHINARelease has produced new resources to help you and your church pray for China, and China's underground church. Originally prepared for this year's IDOP (International Day of Prayer for the persecuted church), these can be used at any time.
Release's new materials can be used as part of a church service, prayer meeting or small group (eg Bible study or home group) and include the following:
Pray for China DVD: Rob Frost visits China to discover the truth about the church in China. While the authorities claim they uphold religious freedom for all, underground churches and Christian leaders say they continue to face severe restrictions, and pastors and individual Christians are still being arrested and imprisoned on spurious charges.
Pray for China Powerpoint: to help you organise your own prayer event in your small group or church. Includes specific prayer points.
Said Rob Frost: 'China needs our prayer. This emerging superpower, host of next year's Olympics, is home to the largest underground church in the world. These unregistered house churches have experienced incredible church growth over recent years - but still face many challenges ahead. Please join me in prayer and action for China's Christians.'
Please use our IDOP 2007 resources order form to order your materials.

NEW DVD TELLS OF CHRISTIANS UNDER ATTACK IN NIGERIA
Release has produced a new one-hour documentary, The Remains of the Day, which tells the story of the sectarian violence faced by Christians in Nigeria. This powerful production tells the story of five Christians who survived violent attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State in 2006. Despite their terrifying experiences, these believers, amazingly, have been able to forgive their attackers, and continue to stand firm in their faith. This video is by no means easy viewing – but it does give a dramatic insight into some of the extraordinary pressures faced by believers in Nigeria. The DVD also features an interview with the Bishop of Jos, Rt Rev Dr Benjamin Kwashi, who recently narrowly escaped death after the second violent attack on his family in 18 months. Please use this documentary to encourage prayer for Christians in Nigeria. The DVD is available for a suggested donation of £10, and may be ordered by calling 01689 823491.
