New song supports persecuted Christians in North Korea |
| Oct 21 2011 |
Christian songwriter Nathan Fellingham, best known for the inspirational There is a Day, has written a new song to support persecuted Christians in North Korea.
The drummer of worship band Phatfish has written Breaking Down the Walls to support the One Day campaign by Release International. That campaign calls for religious freedom in the nation considered to be one of the worst persecutors of Christians on earth.
‘I hope this song will touch the hearts of Christians in the UK and help them to get on their knees in prayer,’ says Nathan Fellingham. Believers in North Korea desperately need our prayers and to know they’re not forgotten.’
North Korea is considered to be one of harshest nations on Earth to be a Christian. Believers have been rounded up by the military dictatorship and put in camps where many have died.
Release International, which supports persecuted Christians worldwide, has launched a petition calling on North Korea to allow its citizens to practise their faith without persecution.
The petition form can be downloaded from the Releasewebsite or signed online at www.releaseinternational.org/petition So far more than 30,000 people have signed the petition.
Release CEO Andy Dipper says: ‘We’re absolutely thrilled that Nathan is supporting our One Day campaign by writing Breaking Down the Walls. We hope it will stir the church in the UK to engage with the pain of those who suffer for their faith in North Korea.’
Release is supporting refugees who have fled North Korea to escape famine and persecution and is working with local Christian partners to provide safe houses, health care and pastoral support.
‘Please get behind Release’s campaign, sign the petition and make your voice heard,’ says Release CEO Andy Dipper.
Breaking down the Walls is available as a CD to order from the Release website. All money raised from the song will go towards Release’s work with North Koreans. The song is alsoavailable as an MP3 to download from the Release website at www.releaseinternational.org/audio
Through its international network of missions Release serves persecuted Christians in 30 countries around the world, by supporting pastors and Christian prisoners, and their families; supplying Christian literature and Bibles, and working for justice. Release is a member of the UK organisations Global Connections and the Evangelical Alliance.
