Release International

As evidence continues to build that Eritrea is imprisoning and torturing Christians for their faith, Release International has produced a rap CD to increase awareness and raise support for Eritrea's persecuted believers.

My Refuge, described as both moving and inspirational, can be downloaded from http://www.releaseinternational.org/pages/take-action/current-campaign/my-refuge-mp3.php for a suggested donation of £3.

The money will be used to support Christians who have been forced to flee Eritrea because of the hard-line stance of the Marxist-style authorities against Christianity.

Between two and three thousand Christians have been jailed for their faith in this small East African nation. Many have faced brutal beatings and incarceration rather than renounce their faith. Some have been held in steel shipping containers in the searing heat of the desert.

My Refuge has been produced by London Christian rap duo Surrender.  Says singer K.I.D.: ‘When I first heard about the situation in Eritrea it was a shock and a serious wake-up call about how real Christ and persecution are.’

The CD is part of a major campaign by Release to help Eritrean Christians. As part of that, Release has launched an on-line petition which will be presented to the Eritrean Ambassador in London later this year.

Through its international network of missions Release supports Christians imprisoned for their faith and their families in 30 nations. It supports church workers, pastors and their families, and provides training, Bibles, Christian literature and broadcasts. Release is a member of the UK organisations Global Connections, the Evangelical Alliance and the Micah Network.
